Use More than “Bien” or “Mal” for How You’re Feeling

The first time someone asks you, “¿Cómo estás?” and you confidently answer “¡Bien!” or “¡Mal! is such a good feeling! You understood a question and were able to naturally answer it. However, maybe you want to give a more detailed answer. If you’re ready to add some more exciting vocabulary to your conversations, we’ll show you how to use more adjectives for how you’re feeling.

Adjectives for how you’re feeling

First of all, you could answer with just an adjective. If you say “Bien, ¿y tú?” that’s completely acceptable when you’re chatting with someone. If you want to answer with a nice full sentence, make sure you use these with the verb estar. To say how you’re feeling, you’ll use “Estoy …” to say “I’m …” Also, make sure that your adjectives match your gender! Now, let’s see some new words to boost our vocabulary!

  1. Estoy feliz; contento/a = I’m happy
  2. Estoy nervioso/a = I’m nervous
  3. Estoy sorprendido/a = I’m surprised
  4. Estoy enfermo/a = I’m sick
  5. Estoy preocupado/a = I’m busy
  6. Estoy cansado/a = I’m tired
  7. Estoy avergonzado = I’m embarrassed
  8. Estoy confundido/a = I’m confused
  9. Estoy triste = I’m sad
  10. Estoy enojado/a = I’m angry
  11. Estoy calmado/a ; tranquilo/a = I’m calm
  12. Estoy emocionado/a = I’m excited
