Today\u2019s topic is days of the week, or in Spanish, <em>los d\u00edas de la semana. <\/em>You use days of the week to ask what day it is, to make plans, to understand deadlines, and so much more. In this article, we\u2019ll show you the days of the week, and a few other important tips to navigate the calendar in Spanish. Check it out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Days of the week in Spanish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first thing to know is that in Spanish, you don\u2019t capitalize the days of the week. Remember, all nouns in Spanish have <a href=\"http:\/\/conversaspanishinstitute.com\/fr\/onlineactivities\/nom-genre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Les objets inanim\u00e9s ont un sexe ?\">genre grammatical<\/a>, and that includes the days of the week. In order to talk about your week, here are a few other key words you might want to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Week- <em>la semana<\/em><\/li><li>Weekend- <em>el fin de semana<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips for using the Spanish calendar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest differences that you might notice in the Spanish calendar is that it starts on Monday, not Sunday. Think about it- we say week<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fin<\/span><\/em>, so it makes sense that Saturday and Sunday are at the end of the week! For example, in English, I would say \u201cI\u2019m going to go to the restaurant <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on<\/span><\/em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em> Friday<\/em><\/span>.\u201d However, in Spanish, you don\u2019t use the word <em>on<\/em>, but rather just the<em> <\/em>article <em>el<\/em>. You would say \u201cVoy a ir al restarurante <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">el viernes<\/span><\/em>.\u201d Similarly, to talk about things you do regularly on certain days of the week, you would skip <em>on<\/em> and just make the day of the week plural. For example, to say \u201cI go to the restaurant <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">on Fridays<\/span><\/em>\u201d you would say \u201cVoy al restaurante <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">los viernes<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope these tips have helped you to talk about days of the week in Spanish.
