Then, the other person started talking, and you had no idea what words came out of their mouth. You feel frustrated, and a little embarrassed. In this article, we\u2019ll help you answer the question, \u201cWhat do I do if I don\u2019t understand?\u201d so you can keep the conversation going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially if the other person doesn\u2019t speak English and can\u2019t explain it to you, you\u2019ll want to know how to ask someone to repeat what they just said. \u00bfC\u00f3mo?<\/em> est une expression courante similaire \u00e0 Hein ? <\/em>in English. It\u2019s short, sweet and to the point to show that you don\u2019t understand what they just said. You could also say, \u00bfPerd\u00f3n?<\/em> qui est similaire \u00e0 Excuse-moi<\/em>? ou Pardon ?<\/em> With a confused look, these convey the message perfectly that you didn\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re a beginner, a good phrase to know is R\u00e9p\u00e8te, s'il te pla\u00eet <\/em>if it\u2019s someone you\u2019re familiar with. If you want to show a little more respect, or you\u2019re in a culture that would use usted <\/em>dans cette situation, opte pour R\u00e9p\u00e8te, s'il te pla\u00eet<\/em>.
