Che cos'è un input comprensibile?

Krashen ha teorizzato che per far sì che gli studenti imparino, dovrebbero lavorare con materiale leggermente superiore al loro livello attuale. If it’s at their level, they’ve already mastered it and it can be too easy. If it’s too hard, it can make students feel frustrated and helpless. When it’s slightly harder than their current level, they can more confidently learn something new.

Il termine che ha usato in questa teoria è i + 1cioè un livello superiore a quello attuale. In questo modo, il loro input, ovvero ciò che vedono e sentono, è comprensibile (da qui il nome input comprensibili!) ma abbastanza impegnativo da far crescere il loro vocabolario.
