5 Mindfulness Tips to Feel Refreshed

It’s good to push yourself to reach your goals, but there’s a limit. That limit looks different for everyone, but there’s always a point where you’ve pushed yourself too far and feel burnt out. If you’ve been feeling less motivated and are looking for a way to feel refreshed, we’ll give you 5 tips to help. You’ll feel like new in no time!

Interestingly enough, several of these tips don’t have to do with a pen and paper or conversation practice. The key to mindful learning and boosting your energy levels has more to do with general self-care than you might think. Check out these recommendations below.

1. Stay hydrated

Did you know that being dehydrated can make anxiety and irritability worse? If you think you might not be drinking enough water and you’ve felt more sluggish, keep a water bottle with you throughout your day. In addition to helping your body physically by regulating your temperature and help various bodily processes, it also helps prevent brain fog. Your brain is 80% water, so to feel more refreshed, stay hydrated!

2. Exercise regularly

You don’t need to run marathons or bike dozens of miles a day to stay healthy, but regular exercise is key to keeping your energy levels up. It sounds counter-intuitive; why would using more energy make you feel more energized? When you exercise, your body gets more oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work better. Therefore, you feel more energized. Even going for a walk every day can help you feel better and clear your head.

3. Take breaks to feel refreshed

If you’ve heard someone say “breaks are for the weak” they couldn’t be more wrong. It’s crucial to take a break to prevent burnout, especially for language learning. Your brain will hit a point where it won’t retain anymore information for the day, and that’s your cue to take a break. It’s better to pace yourself and give yourself time to rest than to try and do too much.

4. Get enough sleep

This might sound obvious, but it’s crucial. Although the amount of sleep everyone needs is different, adults should usually shoot for between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night. This is when your brain processes everything from the day and hits its “restart” button. Without enough sleep, your focus, energy, emotional stability and even productivity could suffer.

5. Think positive thoughts

The way you think and process obstacles has a huge effect on the way you feel throughout the day. There’s a lot of power in positivity. By focusing on things that bring you joy and looking on the bright side, you can actually restore your mind. The more you let negativity bog you down, the more tired and stressed out you’ll feel.
