Maybe you’ve heard about the famous Semana Santa, or holy week in English, which is the week before Pascua, or Easter. In Valencia, it’s definitely more than egg hunts and pictures with the Easter Bunny!
For 2022, the biggest events take place between April 8 and April 17, which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. In fact, Maritime Holy Week is the second largest festival in Valencia, behind the one and only Las Fallas.
If you’re catholic, take advantage of attending mass by the beach. Even if you aren’t religious, this is definitely a week you don’t want to miss. In addition to the processions, there are fireworks, delicious foods like mona de Pascua, and you might even see people dressed like roman soldiers or biblical characters.
Valencia is a city filled with adventure and new experiences. When you visit for Semana santa, you’ll surely fall in love with the area!
